2. Function:
The Department of Biotechnology has the function of researching and applying biotechnology in the selection, creation and multiplication of vegetables, fruits, flowers and ornamental plants and the production of biological products in service of agricultural production; Transfer of technical advances in breeding and propagation of vegetables, fruits, flowers and ornamental trees; Store genetic resources for vegetables, fruits, flowers and ornamental plants.

 3. Duties:
1. Applying tissue culture technology in propagation and purification of virus to repair varieties of vegetables, fruits, flowers and ornamental plants.
2. Application of biotechnology in the selection of varieties of vegetables, fruits, flowers and ornamental plants.
3. Research and application of micro-biological technology in the production of microorganisms; organic fertilizer, microorganism for agricultural production.
4. Transfer of technical advances in the field of biotechnology on vegetables, fruits, flowers and ornamental plants to organizations and individuals.
5. Preserving gene sources of vegetables, fruits, flowers and rare ornamental plants.
6. Participating in programs and projects on international cooperation in the field of biotechnology on subjects of vegetables, fruits, flowers and ornamental plants.
7. Participate in the training of scientists, technicians and technical workers specialized in biotechnology.

4. Results:

- To build and perfect cell culture technology for high quality breeding for many crops.

- Master of biotechnology (molecular indicator, gene transfer ...) in vegetable breeding.

-Cho create many varieties of tomatoes, peppers resistant to disease.

 Each year, thousands of banana plants and flowers are propagated by tissue culture technology for production.
